Valley City ambulance carrying patient flips in Columbia Township crash
COLUMBIA TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WOIO) - The Ohio State Highway Patrol confirmed a crash caused a Valley City ambulance carrying a patient to flip on its side on Thursday night.
Patrol got the call for the crash at the intersection of SR-252 and SR-82 in Columbia Township at 8:10 p.m., according to Lt. Dowell.
Dowell said the investigation and witness statements show the Valley City ambulance was driving north on SR-252 into the intersection of SR-82 through a red traffic light when it was struck by a 2017 Nissan Sentra heading west.
The ambulance overturned north of the intersection with a patient inside, Dowell said.
According to Dowell, the occupants of the ambulance and Nissan were taken to Southwest General Hospital with minor injuries.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol confirmed the ambulance was driving with its overhead lights and sirens activated at the time of the crash.
The Columbia Township Fire Department, Columbia Township EMS, Don’s Towing, and Rich’s Towing assisted on scene.
Dowell said the crash remains under investigation.
