19 First Alert Weather Day: Wintry mix turns to snow overnight, slick travel possible Thursday
CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - The storm system that brought some areas several inches of snow this morning has transitioned to a wintry mix and rain this afternoon.
The 19 First Alert Weather Day remains in effect tonight and through Thursday.
Scattered showers continue through the afternoon and into this evening.
Winter Weather Advisories remain in effect this afternoon and the Winter Storm Warning through tonight.
As temperatures begin to cool after sunset, any leftover moisture across Northeast Ohio will begin to transition back to snow overnight.
Northwest winds will turn gusty at times tonight and allow for lake effect snow to develop into our primary and secondary snowbelts.
Between the lake effect snow Thursday and scattered lake enhanced snow showers across Northeast Ohio through the day, an additional 2″ to 5″ will be possible.
Once this system clears out late Thursday, another quick clipper system will move in from the west on Friday.
Winds will be elevated and gusting at times in excess of 35 MPH.
This will bring another bout of snow across Northeast Ohio Friday night into Saturday morning.
Minimal snowfall accumulations are expected with early totals looking to be a dusting to around 1″.
Some lake effect snow will linger into Saturday morning as we wait for our next system to arrive on Sunday.
Temperatures Sunday warm into the upper 30s which will allow for another wintry mix setup across Northeast Ohio to wrap up the weekend.
