CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - The overnight into Saturday is a 19 First Alert Weather Day for heavy rain and damaging wind gusts into Saturday afternoon.

A HIGH WIND WARNING and WIND ADVISORY are in effect for Northeast Ohio through Saturday evening.

While many evening plans will remain drier tonight, moisture will be building from the southwest to the northeast late tonight.

This will turn into a steady rain overnight that could drop between 0.5″ and 1″ of rainfall across Northeast Ohio.

Once the initial round of rain clears out, winds will begin to pick up out of the southwest and could gust at times in excess of 50 to 60 mph.

This could lead to some tree damage and power loss through the day.

A cold front will sweep through the region Saturday afternoon and bring a gradual end to the damaging wind threat through the evening as temperatures fall into the 30s.

Sunshine and drier conditions return Sunday with highs into the 50s to wrap up the weekend.

We are looking ahead to a cooler start to the work week with some light showers possible at times.
