19 First Alert Weather Day: Wintry mix tonight and Tuesday; accumulations will occur in the Snow Belt
CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - The 19 First Alert Weather Team has issued a 19 First Alert Weather Day for tonight and Tuesday.
A wintry mix of rain and snow will be moving through during this time.
It will be freezing cold, too!
Typical highs this time of the year are in the mid 60s but we’re going to be far, far from that until this weekend.
Temperatures will plummet into the mid 30s overnight.
Gusty winds will make it feel as if it’s in the 20s by tomorrow morning.
Occasional rain showers will continue through tonight; rain may mix with snow from time to time, especially overnight.
Some of this precipitation will be heavy enough to overcome warm ground temperatures, meaning that light accumulations will be possible early Tuesday on grassy and elevated surfaces, especially in the Primary Snow Belt.
One to three inches of snowfall, with some initially melting, will occur in the Primary Snow Belt.
Elsewhere, expect a quick coating, if that.
Temperatures won’t warm up much at all tomorrow.
The 19 First Alert Weather Team is forecasting highs in the low 40s.
We’ll be about 25 degrees below normal tomorrow.
The lowest-recorded high temperature for tomorrow’s date is 40 degrees (1911), and we will only be warmer than that by a few degrees.
Strong winds will make it feel as if it’s in the 30s tomorrow afternoon.
Expect on-again, off-again rain showers tomorrow; rain will mix with snow from time to time.
Wednesday will also feature rain and snow showers in the morning.
As temperatures “warm” into the upper 40s on Wednesday afternoon, any wintry mix will change to rain.
Finally, by Thursday, the area of low pressure bringing all of these clouds, cool conditions, and rain will attempt to drift away from us, leaving only a few lingering rain showers in its wake.
Temperatures will warm into the mid 50s on Thursday.
Blessedly, Friday through Sunday will feature plenty of sunshine and highs in the low to mid 60s.
