Northeast Ohio weather: Warming trend kicks off today; rain returns Friday
CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - Our fair-weather friend, high pressure, has taken control of our weather today.
It’s going to be a gorgeous day!
In fact, tomorrow will also be lovely.
The only fly in the ointment is that haze overhead. (Have you noticed it?)
This is actually coming from distant wildfires, thousands of miles away, in Alberta. (That’s in Western Canada.)
The haze will be with us today and tomorrow, but it will not impact local air quality.
Otherwise, expect mainly sunny skies.
Temperatures will rise into the upper 60s and lower 70s today.
Tomorrow will be a bit warmer with highs in the upper 70s.
Some inland communities may even top out in the low 80s Thursday afternoon.
Lakeshore communities will endure another lake breeze Thursday afternoon, and this will drop lakeshore temperatures by about five to ten degrees.
Our next big weather-maker will arrive late Friday in the form of a warm front.
This feature will bring us scattered showers and rumbles of thunder starting Friday afternoon.
Friday will also be noticeably more humid.
With the front nearby, a few showers remain possible Saturday morning.
However, new data indicates that the front will move south during the day Saturday, allowing for drier conditions locally.
Expect mostly cloudy, quiet conditions by mid-morning Saturday.
Temperatures will top out in the low 70s.
Sunday, Mother’s Day, will be a touch cooler with highs in the mid to upper 60s.
