CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - Police are investigating a homicide that happened Thursday in Cleveland’s Central neighborhood.

Police say they responded to a call in the 6400 block of Woodland Avenue for a man shot.

A 26-year-old man was found in a staircase with multiple gunshot wounds, officials say.

The victim was transported to MetroHealth Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner reported the death as a suspected homicide Friday morning.

The victim was identified as Jamarious Williams by the medical examiner.

Police say preliminary information indicates the victim was loading a Uhaul truck when a male suspect wearing a mask approached and shot him before fleeing.
